WEEK 3: MENTAL HEALTH
October 16th - 20th

“A healthy attitude is contagious but don’t wait to catch it from others. Be a carrier.”
– Tom Stoppard
75 SECONDS OF MINDFULNESS
In this fast-paced world, finding moments of tranquility can seem like an impossible feat. But what if we told you that just 75 seconds a day could make all the difference? Imagine a life where stress melts away, and a sense of calm washes over you effortlessly. It may sound too good to be true, but with the power of mindfulness, it becomes a reality.
Mindfulness is the art of being fully present in the moment, embracing the here and now with unwavering attention. It allows us to cultivate a deep understanding of our thoughts, emotions, and sensations, leading to enhanced self-awareness and a greater connection to the world around us. And the best part? It only takes a mere 75 seconds each day to embark on this transformative journey.
In those precious moments, you can take a pause from the chaos and noise, and dive into a world of tranquility. Close your eyes, take a deep breath, and let the worries of the day fade away. Focus your attention on the gentle rise and fall of your breath, grounding yourself in the present moment. With each inhale, invite peace and clarity into your being. With each exhale, release any tension or negativity that may be weighing you down.
75 seconds a day may seem insignificant, but within that short span of time, you can experience a profound shift in your mental and emotional well-being. It's a small investment with big returns – increased focus, reduced anxiety, and an overall sense of harmony in your life.

Week 3 focuses on our MENTAL state of wellness. Mental health and wellness includes our emotional, psychological, and social well-being--it affects how we think, feel, and act. Mental wellness also helps determine how we handle stress, relate to others, and make choices.
Did you know that 1 in 5 people will experience a mental illness during their lifetime, but only half of the people will receive treatment? Here are common signs and symptoms of mental illness:
Feelings of anxiety, depression, irritability, restlessness, or frequent mood swings
Feeling fatigued or having difficulty sleeping
Difficulty concentrating
Changes in appetite
Social Withdrawal
Recognizing and identifying these symptoms is essential to receive the best support focused on your needs.
Starting with small, meaningful changes to your social interactions, physical activity levels, and sleep habits can enhance your well-being overtime, and soon enough-- tomorrow will look brighter.
